Pulitzer Prize winners greet Colgate community Living Writers continues to introduce prize-winning authors to Colgate community members on campus and around the world. Alumni and friends watched our Livestream feed as Junot Diaz launched the series on September 24, and Jeffrey Eugenides delivered last week’s lecture. Elizabeth Strout will arrive on October 22 — she will also take part in a lunchtime conversation specifically for alumni on Friday, October 23. Find out more...
Discussions to begin on latest study of campus climate An analysis of Colgate's latest campus climate survey is launching discussions about racial climate, sexual conduct, and alcohol consumption at the university. Direct questions were asked about these topics in order to gather data as the first step in a community-wide effort to deal with these important issues. Colgate marks passing of William Skelton India Study Group leader, Colgate Concert Orchestra founder, Robert H.N. Ho Professor of Asian studies emeritus, and professor of music emeritus William Skelton passed away on September 23. Skelton was more than a teacher and conductor; he was an innovator who shared a passion for eastern and western musical traditions with generations of Colgate undergrads. Read more...

Colgate tames Tigers, hammers Hoyas Colgate football remains undefeated after beating Georgetown 31–14 on October 17 and besting Princeton 21–14 during a nationally televised contest on October 8. The team's record stands at 7–0 for only the fifth time in university history. Next up for the Raiders: four more Patriot League contests beginning with Holy Cross on October 24.
Hall of Honor inductions Congratulations to six new members of the Athletics Hall of Honor. Larry Bossidy ’57, Angela Chongris ’98, Andy McDonald ’00, Tara McGoff ’99, Eugene Robinson ’85, and Kelly Tyrrell ’00 were inducted into Colgate’s cadre of distinguished athletes during a celebration on September 11. According to the Winter 2009 Colgate Scene, “Through an improbably and fortuitous set of circumstances, Colgate came to own one of the first dinosaur eggs ever discovered. The fossil was stumbled upon by paleontologists on July 13, 1923 — another lucky Friday the 13th.” This Colgate Day discovery recently moved to the newly renovated Robert M.
