Become an Annual Fund volunteer
A successful class gift program requires committee members to concentrate on personal solicitation of classmates in an effort to raise the bar for class fundraising. Committee members begin making contact with classmates in the fall of each fiscal year.
Volunteer Responsibilities
1. Personally contact five to ten classmates to encourage participation in the class gift.
2. Share news and updates from campus and be available to answer any questions from your classmates on Colgate related issues.
3. Inform the Annual Fund Office of any pledges/commitments received, address changes or any other new information.
4. Participate in conference calls as appropriate.
5. Make a personally meaningful (if possible a “stretch”) gift.
6. If in a reunion year, make every effort to attend reunion.

Experience Volunteerism at Colgate
“I realize I have become a link in the Colgate chain. A very large reason why I was successful at Colgate and have enjoyed learning so much from my Colgate experience (which continues past graduation) is because other alumni have taken the time to help me. In a way I feel like I am paying them back by helping other alumni and students experience the same tradition. My hope is they will extend the chain and continue to help others and keep the institution, community and family ever expanding.”

....."Volunteering for the Annual Fund gave me the opportunity to both reacquaint myself with the Colgate I knew and loved and to get to know the new and improved Colgate. It also gave me a new perspective on life at Colgate and a greater appreciation for the depth of commitment and dedication of the University's administration, faculty and staff."

I want to thank each of you for volunteering during our 2009–2010 fundraising year. Our university’s ambitions are great, and we need alumni support to transform our dreams for Colgate into reality. Your work as gift committee members will help to make it happen.
We each have our own reason for serving Colgate as fundraisers, although I am sure you share with me a fervent desire to see Colgate continue its climb toward excellence as America’s preeminent liberal arts university. Thank you for taking time to tell your classmates why Colgate deserves their charitable gifts.
